Projector Headlights!

Category: News — redhope @ 6:34 am

I’m totally pumped for my new projector headlights that arrived today! They’re suppose to be OEM fit and won’t require any mod’s to them. I think the chrome will match out nicely with the car’s body chrome. And I think this is suppose to have the halo effect rings around the lights similar to the BMW’s. Below is a quick shot of ‘em.

Conversion: Cassette Deck to Pocket Tray

Category: Interior — redhope @ 6:28 am

Yesterday I received my eBay purchase for the pocket tray to swap out with the cassette deck storage tray. I was really excited, and I had a fairly easy time removing and replacing. I hope to get a quick DIY article done for it too. Below is a photo of the original cassette deck then the replacement with the new pocket tray.

Original Cassette Deck

I purchased the pocket tray from the eBay user: jeff-abalone (http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/jeff-abalone/) for $40.00. I’ve also heard that the dealership sells for it about $27.00, but you have to be able to pick it up yourself. Anyway, here’s the final results, and I love it!

New Tires

Category: Dealership, Maintenance & Repair — redhope @ 6:34 am

So I finally gave in an purchased the new rear tires for the car. I decided to take it to the dealership that I go to regularly because they’re pretty fair and quite good. Originally, I thought I’d end up with Continental brand, but they found some 91H Michelin’s. The tires were not cheap - the final bill: $450.00, roughly. Surprisingly enough, I did notice an improvement with the traction especially because on the way home I sensed less hydroplaning. Maybe those extra… hundred dollars were worth it. At least that’s what I like to tell myself. :)

Coolant Flush

Category: DIM — redhope @ 5:07 am

So, according to the Benz dealership my C230 is due for a coolant flush. They quoted that it’d be about $120.00 (back in Oct. 2007). I figured I could do that myself since I just completed a coolant flush on my 190E. The process hasn’t been too hard or too different. I’m really glad this’ll save me some money. But, I’ll have a post a DIY Article later on how to go about it.

Drained Coolant

I have to say, the coolant wasn’t too bad especially compared to my 190E. It had normal coloring and only a few sediment particles so that was awesome. More to follow later!
